Every once in a while MapleStory will come out with events that allow you to create a Mega and Tera Burning character. This is a great opportunity to train weaker classes that have great link/legion skills.

The best characters to Tera burn are, Beast Tamer, Mercedes, Evan, and Phantom. The Best characters to Mega burn are Kinesis, Shade, and Cadena.

What Is A Mega Burning Character?

A Mega burning character will gain an additional two levels everytime that character levels up all the way till Lvl. 150. If you want to get maximum value, start your mega burning once your character hits Lvl. 11. That way you reach Lvl. 149 and the mega burning will still be in effect and take you to Lvl. 152 after you level up.

What level you should be to reach Lvl. 152 after starting the Mega Burning Effect.

When you proc a critical hit, the said hit does extra damage ranging from minimum of 20% to maximum of 50% on top of your conventional damage, so anywhere from 120% to 150% of your conventional damage will be dealt when an attack is critically hit and there exists no additional source of Critical Damage.

Honestly, unless you really hate the class you’re training, there is no need to start at anything besides Lvl. 11. But just in case there’s the chart.

What Is A Tera Burning Character?

  1. Enemies hit by the actual fan part of the skill take extra damage; Talisman: Evil-Sealing Gourd Talisman Attack: Swallows up nearby enemies into your gourd. Pressing the Skill Key again launches all enemies swallowed Cannot swallow boss monsters, stationary monsters or monsters too higher level than you; Deals extra damage to bosses.
  2. The third passive, Final Pact Critical Chance, does just what it sounds like, give you 20% more critical chance. In a world without legion effect, this is a pretty good passive, but now that we have legion, I'd say this is basically not needed. If you truly need the extra 20% critical chance, go for it. Gungir's Descent Passives.

A Tera burning character will gain two additional levels everytime that character levels up all the way till Lvl. 200. Unfortunately you cannot gain extra levels past 200 like you can with the Mega burning character.

When To Tera Burn Vs. Mega Burn A Character

The best way to determine which characters to Tera or Mega burn comes down to their Link Skill Effect and their Legion Effects. For example classes that have a good Lvl. 3 link skill like Mercedes would be much better to Tera burn as opposed to something like Hayato. A class like Hayato would do much better with a Mega burning effect. (Best Links Skills for Bossing and Training Guide) If a character does not have a Lvl. 3 link skill it is not advised to Tera burn UNLESS you are maining that class or have nothing else to Tera Burn.

If you can’t decide which Lvl. 3 link skills you want, you should move on to looking at the Legion Effects of each of those choices. The most common choices for Lvl. 3 links are, Mercedes, Evan, Phantom, Aran, and Luminous. From these options the best choice would depend on if you need certain things like Meso Obtained, Flat Stat, or HP/MP restoring.

When it comes to Mega burning, honestly, anyone will do since it isn’t too hard to get to Lvl. 150. The real challenge comes around Lvl. 170.

The best links to get would be Mercedes (+20% Bonus EXP), Evan (+70% Rune Duration), Phantom (+20% Crit Rate), Luminous (+20% IED), and Beast Tamer (+10% Crit, +10% Boss Dmg, +5% HP/MP). Notes

How Much Extra Dmg Does Crit Do Maplestory Mean

  • Explorer Mage and Thief Link skills have amazing synergy so get them together.
  • For the characters that are grouped just make 1 or 2 depending on what flat stat you need.
  • Zero is not in reboot but for non-reboot would be around the top 4 since it gives Bonus EXP.
  • Some of these may be surprising since they have useless links like Shade, but their legion effect is good enough to place them higher.
